Determined to enjoy the May Bank holiday they asked staff if they could organise their own Maypole dance and keep the traddition alive. Streamers were tied to the circular balcony and dropped down to the marquetry floor below, as residents shook bells, waved ribbons and clashed sticks just like Morris men of old. Most of the residents some in their nineties, clapped, cheered and sang as their wheelchairs weaved in and out of the brightly coloured streamers.
