• Aberystwyth Wales UK, Saturday 08 Feb 2014

Gale force winds and big waves strike the sea walls at high tide at Aberystwyth on the west wales coast. The tides are relatively small, some 2m lower than the spring tides that brought devastation to the town in early January.

Winds gusting up to 70 or 80 mph were reported, bringing potential disruption to transport and local power supplies. An amber "be prepared" warning has been issued by the Met Office for wind, while a lower yellow warning for rain is in place until Sunday.
