London, UK ZSL London Zoo's merry mob of meerkats posted their letters to Santa today (Wednesday) with a request for tasty mealworms at the top of the list. Given the miniature postbox and insect-stuffed letters as part of their daily enrichment, the meerkats delved straight into the toy mailbox and foraged through the envelopes which were full of their favourite treats. Keeper Tegan McPhail said: ?There are four youngsters in this group who all clambered around the miniature post box to get to their snacks -it would seem that they're just as excited for Christmas as we are. ?They've all been good this year, so I'm sure they'll get what they asked for!?. • © Licensed to London News Pictures. 19/12/2013. This 2004 Christmas box for soldiers contains a Christmas hat, miniature draughts, spicy chutney, a Christmas cake and a disposable camera. Christmas boxes for solders from the present day back to 1900 have gone on show at the Firepower Musuem in South East London. The collection includes a New Years christmas tin sent in 1900 by Queen Victoria. Some historians think she should be credited with the annual gift box rather than Princess Mary who was responsible for the Christmas box, sent in 1914. It's the first time the Victorian box has gone on show at the museum, which is one of the oldest military museums in the world. Please contact Richard Smith-Gore at Firepower for quotes and additional info. Credit : Rob Powell/LNP
