Campaigners want the council to stop selling off 15 council homes on 20 April by auction to the private sector. Bristol City Council says the homes are expensive to repair, but some campaigners question whether the costs of repairs are inflated, and also whether the homes will be bought and then relet to the Council for temporary accommodation at higher than normal rents. Bristol resident Roger Yates said: "The idea the Council can't afford to do these places up is piffle. All over Bristol folk are improving property to increase its value on a rising housing market. These are valuable assets. But Ferguson (Bristol's elected mayor) wants to socially cleanse inner city Bristol so that his luvvie mates can move in.
