Wiggins began his career on the track, but has made the transition to road cycling, becoming one of the few cyclists to gain success in both disciplines. He won the 2012 Tour de France, becoming the first British winner in its 99-year history, and has achieved the historic double of Tour de France crown and Olympic gold where he won the Time Trial by a huge 42 second margin in time trial over 27.3 mile south-west London course. He is now Britain's most decorated Olympian, overtaking Steve Redgrave.
