The event remains one of the largest and oldest events in Europe and gives the opportunity for travelling communities to meet friends, celebrate their music, folklore and to buy and sell horses.<br />

The event has existed under the protection of a charter granted by King James II in 1685 and it remains the most important event in the gypsy and traveller calendar.<br />
