The departure of the Royal Navy's flagship, HMS Queen Elizabeth, from HMNB Portsmouth has been delayed for the second day in a row. The aircraft carrier has been alongside in Portsmouth since 16th August 2017, and was due to sail on Monday 23rd October for the second stages of her sea trials. Her departure was originally delayed due to strong winds, and is now expected to be delayed until Friday at the earliest.
Flight trials involving the new F-35B Joint Strike Fighter are expected to take place off the coast of the U.S. next year, and she is due to come into service in the early 2020s. Photo credit: Rob Arnold/LNP
