Sir David Attenborough is widely recognised as the world’s greatest natural history programme maker. The decision to award the Freedom of the City follows a close association between Bristol, the BBC’s Natural History Unit (based in Bristol) and the renowned naturalist and film-maker. Freedom of the City will mean that Sir David Attenborough’s name is added to the Roll of Honorary Freemen of the City. Sir David Attenborough’s career as a naturalist and broadcaster has spanned nearly six decades and there are very few places on the globe he has not visited. 17 December 2013.
