The residential care home for children with special needs has been closed suddenly and some members of staff have been suspended after allegations of child cruelty. Ofsted has removed the care home's registration, and Avon and Somerset Police confirmed it was investigating "allegations of child cruelty offences" relating to the centre in the north Bristol area. Aurora St Christopher’s School is a DfE registered Independent Special School providing specialist education for pupils aged 5 to 19 years with severe language and communication difficulties and with profound and multiple learning difficulties including physical and sensory needs. The council are helping to review each child's care plans to make alternative arrangements for the children who require specialist care. The allegations specifically relate to the children's home and not an adjoining school also run by the company, and the school remains open. Photo credit: Simon Chapman/LNP.
