General view of a playground in Southern Road recreation ground in Thame, Oxfordshire where yesterday afternoon (Wed 17th) a 14-month old boy was hospitalised after picking up a discarded drugs wrap and chewing it. His condition is not thought to be serious but he was kept in overnight for observation.
Police officers searched the scene for further paraphernalia and engaged with the council who will carry out additional cleaning at the recreation ground.
Det Sgt Darren Cartwright of Thames Valley Police said: “This was obviously a frightening experience for the boy’s parents, but fortunately he doesn’t seem to have been seriously harmed. It seems he had picked up a discarded paper wrap believed to have contained an illegal drug."
