Screenshot of the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) Locator app created by South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) NHS Foundation Trust which identifies over 600 AEDs in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire. The app is the first to be launched by an ambulance trust and provides exact details of the nearest AED location in an emergency and CPR instructions.
in cases of sudden cardiac arrest outside hospital, only 1 in 10 people survive. However, when bystanders provide CPR and use automated external defibrillators (AEDs) before emergency medical services personnel arrive, as many as 4 in 10 victims survive.
The AED Locator for iPhone and iPad can be downloaded from the Apple iTunes Store. Versions for Android and Blackberry operating systems are currently in development.
